Over the last several years, we have been working in the community of Woodstock and the surrounding areas in a number of ways to explore how to support young people in the local communities.
We have offered a number of opportunities for young people to engage in Worship, Discipleship, Leadership, Community, Games, and so much more through the various groups and events that we have run.
Currently, our focus is on supporting the good work with young people that already exists in the three areas of Church, School, and Community.
- Church: We work with the local churches and regularly. This means that we attend services at each of the churches in order to maintain relationships with not just the young people there, but the wider congregations of Woodstock. We also support the churches in the ways that they are looking to provide opportunities for their young people, and invite them into other opportunities to connect with young people that we deliver.
- Schools: Since September 2020, we have had a presence in the Marlborough School through running the chaplaincy there. This has been so successful, that the school now directly employs our youth worker to run the chaplaincy there. Despite the employment now being taken on directly by the school, we still partner closely with them. In April 2023, this role expanded into Woodstock Primary School as well. We are exploring how we can continue to grow this element of our ministry.
- Community: We also support the great work that is happening locally with young people. This includes the local youth club that runs on a Thursday evening. We work closely with the team there to deliver an engaging experience for the young people that attend. We are also involved in a local scout group, where we help to run the weekly programme. These provide great opportunities to meet and support the local young people, and to come alongside them in lots of different ways.
We are always looking for new ways that we can serve the local community and support the young people in the area. We are currently in the process of discerning how we can continue to do this well. If there are any needs that you see that we could help to meet, then please get in touch via our ‘Contact‘ page.
